Ruffler Walter Ruffler
mechanical paper kits.
Papercraft kits that make amazing sculptures with lifelike mechanical
movement. Walter Ruffler, one of Europe’s
most accomplished automata designers, makes humorous and sophisticated
mechanical paper kits.
These paper “machines” use cranks, levers, wooden sticks,
and thread to simulate amazingly lifelike movement. Seven models
are available including the bestselling Fire Dragon (a peaceful
dragon breathes fire and flaps its wings when threatened), the
new Chinese Dragon (jaws snap and body twists – truly fantastic!)
Sailing into the Wind (a skipper turns mainsail out of the wind
and lays over the ship’s side to keep its balance), Stormy
Seas (a skipper rides waves in his dinghy), The Red Knight and
Samurai (both defend their honor by raising their swords and rearing
their horses), and Good Fishing (a fisherman unexpectedly hooks
a shark!). Each model is packaged in a sleeve containing four cards
(8 1/2” x 12”) printed with model parts, wooden sticks,
and complete step-by-step instructions. The kits require glue,
scissors, a craft knife, and needle and thread to assemble. When
completed, the models range in finished size from 4” to 11” W
and 7” to 13” H. Recommended for ages 12 and up. A
great gift for tinkerers!
